Michael Bruce Cohen, an AV-rated Board Certified Trial Attorney, is an “of counsel” member of the firm.  His practice includes a wide range of civil, criminal, immigration and naturalization matters on the state and federal level. He has defended and argued some of the most significant state and federal criminal cases in the country. He has tried scores of cases throughout Florida and New York, in the state and federal courts. His prior experience includes appointments as an Assistant United States Attorney, Assistant Attorney General and Assistant State Attorney. Mr. Cohen has been involved in such notable cases as: Operation Swordfish, one of the earliest major money laundering investigations brought by the United States government against approximately one hundred indicted individuals. Linium Technology v. John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Co., a complex multi-district case concerning injunctive relief and patent infringement. Doe v. JNC of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit, determined the applicability of the Americans With Disabilities Act to Florida’s Judicial Nominating Commission. State v. Stephenson, a State negligent homicide case involving the death of an infant child, which was successfully overturned on appeal based on the State’s impermissible comment on abortion. United States v. Minor, determining that the Copyright Act’s prohibition against infringement of intangible property does not extend to interstate transportation of stolen property. United States v. Posado, determining that polygraph tests are not per se inadmissible in criminal proceedings, overruling the per se inadmissibility findings of United States v. Frye.
