When facing federal prison time, a Bureau Of Prisons (BOP) consultant could be very helpful when it comes to the unknown issues the defendant and their family is facing. Our firm works closely with Mary McCarty, who is a BOP consultant, and recommends her services to our defendants.
Mary helps clients develop a strategic plan that will enable them to navigate the intimidating criminal justice process. The ultimate goal is to be able to prepare each client to successfully regain a meaningful life after this chapter is closed. She offers a unique and valuable perspective and information to individuals and their families to ensure they are better prepared before incarceration, during incarceration and once they are released and begin their new lives. Mary knows this process, because she has lived it. Mary’s strategies enabled her to successfully start a new life.
Mary is a graduate of the University of Florida and spent most of her professional career in public service. She was elected to two terms as a Delray Beach, Florida, City Commissioner and also served as Vice Mayor. She then was elected and re-elected to the Palm Beach County Commission for the next eighteen years, serving one term as its Chairman. Her civic involvement included board memberships on the United Way, the Business Development Board, the Tourist Development Council, the Chamber of Commerce, The ARC, The Governor’s Commission on a Sustainable South Florida, The Criminal Justice Commission, and The Angels of Charity.
Mary was caught completely off guard when she first discovered she and her husband Kevin were being investigated for Honest Services Fraud by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2008. During those months they experienced an invasive home search and tense meetings with FBI agents, federal prosecutors, and IRS officials. They eventually and reluctantly accepted a plea deal.
Mary was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison and 3 years probation. She took the RDAP program (Residential Drug Abuse Program) and was able to leave 9 months early. Her husband was sentenced to 8 months in federal prison.
During the process, Mary and her husband employed strategies that enabled them to keep their home and credit rating. After returning from prison, they built a business, and with the help of family and friends have successfully re-entered their community. This did not happen without a plan and learning lessons along the way. These lessons will be shared so that you can make the most out of this life-altering period.
